Pilates Place F.A.Q.
Here we have collected together some of the most frequently asked questions our members and new customers ask. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, please click here to send us an email.
Is your question ...
What should I wear to do Pilates?
Please wear something comfortable and stretchy - a t-shirt and leggings or cycle shorts is ideal. If you attend Reformer Classes or studio Pilates, we insist that long hair must be tied up, and dangling jewellery must be removed. We do not allow members to exercise in trainers or any other shoes, so you may wear bare feet or grip socks, available to purchase in the studio. If you have wrist or hand problems, you might like to try cushioned gloves.
Can I bring my child to my class?
Babies, toddlers, and children may be brought into the studio, but only by prior arrangement.
Do you have a changing room?
At Shipston studio there is a curtained changing area in the office adjacent to the studio. At Stratford studio there is no changing area, but clients may use the toilet adjacent to the studio.
Is your studio accessible for disabled people and/or people who use mobility aids?
At Shipston studio, we are on the first floor and access is only via a flight of stairs. At Stratford studio, we are on the ground floor with step-free access. Our accessible toilet at Stratford is also on the ground floor.
Is there a toilet?
Yes, members at both studios have access to toilets.
What do I need to bring with me?
For Mat, Reformer, Barre, Mat & Barre, and Postural Pilates Classes: You do not need to bring anything except suitable clothing. We provide all mats and equipment, and we also have a water cooler.
For Studio Pilates: Unless your instructor says otherwise, you do not need to bring anything except suitable clothing. We provide all equipment, and we also have a water cooler.
For CPD Workshops: Please bring a pen and paper for taking notes. For most workshops you will need to bring or wear suitable clothing. Please check the requirements specific to your course by clicking here.

We are closed on Bank Holidays, Good Friday, Easter Monday, and the period between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. Pilates Place runs a number of staff training days during the year, but we try not to disrupt our usual membership times, as far as we can.
How does Easy Access membership work?
Members who have Easy Access Packages pay a monthly membership fee for a set number of Pilates sessions in a 12-month period. (You may pay for your Easy Access Package in a single payment to receive a 5% discount.) You can book yourself in for your Pilates studio session during our open hours on weekdays. You will share the studio with up to 3 other Easy Access Members, all under the expert guidance of one of our Pilates teachers.
What are 1-to-1 Membership Packages?
You can choose to take one of our premium membership packages to do Pilates on a 1-to-1 basis. This is different to Easy Access Packages because you will have the dedicated attention of your teacher for the entirety of your session. This is particularly beneficial if you have specific health or mobility issues or if you wish to make fast progress.
What is the difference between "1-to-1 Membership Packages" at Stratford, and "Private Membership Packages" at Shipston?
The only difference is that in Shipston you will have exclusive use of the studio, whereas in Stratford you may share with another client who is also having a 1-to-1 session with a different teacher. If absolute privacy is important to you for any reason, please choose a Private Package at our Shipston studio.
Is there a minimum age to join Pilates Place?
Yes. The minimum age to join as Easy Access or Private Member is 16, but teenagers of 13 years and over may participate in Mat Classes or Mat & Barre Classes, with permission from their parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit!
Do you do joint memberships?
Yes. For any 2 people who live at the same address, there is a discount of 10% on all memberships. Please email us to arrange this.
When is your next Flash Sale?
We announce our periodic Flash Sales on our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram profiles, and by email.
Do I have to create an account with MindBody?
Yes, but it is easy and will help you to manage your own bookings and payments from home. If you need help with your MindBody account please email us and we will be happy to help.

If you missed your Easy Access or 1-to1 / Private Pilates session, then you will be charged as if you had attended. If you know you will be able to attend your booked session please cancel at least 24 hours in advance.
